Our Story

Your Heart's Desire opened in February of 1984 as a small, craft co-op where many local artists sold their creations. Over time, as the "craft" years faded away, the store evolved into a retail gift store. We moved from one location to another, growing and changing with each move. We stay current with the latest trends and continually add merchandise for all ages as well as price ranges. Our goal is to have "something for everyone."

I never imagined that Your Heart's Desire would end up being the store it is today and I am thankful to each of those artists who got us started, as well as the support from my family and friends. We have been blessed to have so many loyal customers who have supported us since day one and a community that has embraced us all along the way.

I have also been extremely fortunate to have a wonderful staff of employees who share my philosophy; each day is a good day and we are thankful for each person who walks through our door. My sister-in-law, Terri Yancey, was actually shopping in our store many years ago, saw that we were very busy and asked if she could help in anyway. We said yes and that was the beginning of a partnership that I treasure. She has been my business partner, friend, encourager, and advisor for most of the years we have been in business and I am forever grateful for her loyalty and contributions to the success of our store.

Even though we have worked hard to make the store successful, all honor and glory go to God who makes all things possible. I hope that more than sales or purchases, we have made customers feel important and comfortable when they visit our store. We love to hear our customers say... “I love the atmosphere in here” or ..."I don't really need anything today, but I just came in to lift my spirits” and our favorite... "I'm so glad I found this place!" I'm proud that we have a small business that has survived and thrived all these years, but even more so of the friends and relationships we have made along the way. We will continue our philosophy of placing people above things and look forward to what the future holds.
